The Catedral Nueva of Cadiz

Located in the historic center of Cadiz near the coast, it replaced the old cathedral, smaller and deteriorated. The construction of the new cathedral lasted almost a century since the beginning of the eighteenth to the early nineteenth century. Inside a mixture of styles can be seen, with the Baroque and Neoclassical that dominate the decoration of the temple. It has a Latin cross, with three naves. The great dome on the cross vault dominates and there are vaults which are scattered throughout the building, along with chapels dedicated to various saints that surround the perimeter of the church. The materials used are colored marble and jasper, which give an air of grandeur and wealth to its spaces. The exterior is very different from that of other cathedrals: the façade is Baroque with two towers on either side, and the dome is covered with golden tiles that reflect light.
