Don Quijote de la Mancha

Imagen 2It is considered the most important work of Spanish literature. The author, Miguel de Cervantes, composed the first part in 1605 and the second in 1615. In it, he mixes the comic and the tragic, the lyric with the epic. The intention was to ridicule the books of tales of chivalry, taking as its protagonist a poor hidalgo (man not of noble origins) that went crazy after reading a large number of knightly works, who convinces himself that he is a knight errant. Arming himself, he begins to travel, courting sweet maidens (Dulcinea), protecting the weak and fighting against rough giants who, in reality, are simply windmills. This genuine and romantic character is always accompanied in his delusional adventures by his faithful squire, Sancho Panza, a rustic man but full of common sense, which he always recommended to his crazy lord.
