Consuegra

ConsuegraIs a town of the province of Toledo (Castilla La Mancha). The origins of the ancient  Consaburum is Roman, as quoted in Latin sources. Passing under Arab rule, it had to await the Reconquista, led by the Order of San Juan from the twelfth century, to return to Christian hands. After the famous victory at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in 1212, Consuegra slowly began to be repopulated. The administration remained in the hands of the Order of San Juan until the nineteenth century. Among its historical monuments, stands the castle of the eleventh century, which still preserves its walls, while the windmills of Consuegra relate the adventures of Don Quijote by Cervantes.
