Alonso Ramírez de Prado
Alonso Ramírez de Prado (1549-1608) was a secretary of the Spanish political figure. An accomplished lawyer, he was called to court already during the reign of Philip II. But it was under Philip III that his career experienced a sudden surge: he linked himself to the Duke of Lerma and the Secretary of State Pedro Franqueza, joined many of the juntas de hacienda which were created to overcome the economic crisis of the monarchy. He was arrested in December 1606 on charges of corruption and illicit enrichment and died in prison in 1608, before the guilt verdict against him was made public.
