Dukes of Osuna
The Duchy of Osuna is a noble title that belonged to members of the Casa de Osuna, the Téllez-Girón. From the time of Philip II of Spain they were important ministers of the king. The seventeenth century saw an increase in their influence and their assets, converting them into one of the most powerful noble families of the Spanish Monarchy, along with the House of Alba. Within the family, during the Early Modern period, Pedro Téllez-Girón y Velasco, III Duke of Osuna (1574-1624), who was a courtier, soldier, viceroy of Sicily (1610-1616) and Naples (1616-1620) deserves a special mention (image).
