The change of the Giants and the figures that accompany them
Once the symbolic structure of religious giants has been removed, the giants of biblical origin were portrayed as Roman warriors and national heroes, medieval rulers and anonymous protagonists of city life. When the many puppets of the giant Goliath were dissociated from the figure of David, they took on a variable historical identity (going from the biblical narrative to the mythological, from sacred to profane history, even recent history) and a completely anachronistic and often anonymous semblance, especially when they are accompanied by a wife and gigantic offspring. The dragon, having lost its co-participants (Saint George, Saint Martha and Saint Michael), became an anonymous monster. The same things happened with the entire colossal bestiary. Over time, the giant figures have become the predominant ones depicting the Catholic Monarchs and the principal Moors, national heroes (like the giant el Cid which is still pulled in Valencia) and some literary characters, as well as the allegories of the four continents.
