Paola Besutti

Musicologist and pianist, having taught at the University of Parma (Faculty of Lettere) and Lecce (Faculty of Beni Culturali) is currently Professor of Music and Communication at the Teramo University (Faculty of Scienze della Comunicazione). Former director of the «Rivista italiana di musicologia» (2003-2010), is an ordinary member of the Accademia Nazionale Virgiliana di Scienze, Lettere e Arti (Mantova) for which she organizes the “Concerti dell’Accademia” (since 2006). Her research is mainly focused on music in early modern era: opera, oratorio, music for dance, instrumental music, the relationship between music and theater, musical spaces. Among her publications: Spaces for Music in Renaissance Mantua (Monteverdi Companion, ed. By J. Whenam, Cambridge 2007), and the monograph on Carlo Tessarini da Rimini, violinist and composer contemporary of Bach (Lucca 2012).
